This week Tina has challenged to find the beauty in Big. My post is less about beauty, and more about BIG consequences. I’ve taken a few tumbles in my lifetime and the consequences have always been small. Two weeks ago that changed and they were pretty BIG! I’m sparing you a picture of the large bruise which covers a significant portion of my back, and substituting my heating pad, which has become a BIG comfort and my new best friend. I still have no idea why it happened. One second I was standing talking to a friend, and the next I pitched straight backwards, hitting the edge of a concrete step on my back. The result was a punctured lung and two broken ribs.
I am happy to report that I am greatly improved and slowly getting back to normal. The very disappointing consequence was that my husband and I had to cancel our long awaited trip to Spain and Portugal, with dear friends, because I was not allowed to fly and wouldn’t have been able to keep up with touring. I was so looking forward to photographing the architecture, scenery and people in a part of the world that I had not previously visited!
Fortunately, we had purchased trip insurance for all phases of our trip and have just completed filing our claims. Do not plan to travel without insurance! We are on a waiting list for the trip next fall, and hope that spots will become available for us.

I hated to hit “like’ for this one Susan! So glad to know you’re feeling better. I hope you’ve had a full cardio exam and brain scan after your blackout. Cannot be too careful!!! Hope you’re soon back to 100% and that Portugal happens soon.

Tina, I saw three doctors and none mentioned any further studies. I thought about this, too, but I experienced no dizziness, light-headedness, or blackout before or after the fall, so I guess the consensus is that I just tripped. My primary did recommend a new bone density scan. I am planning to have a balance assessment and have started some exercises to improve my balance.

Good luck with the assessment Susan. I’m sure I’m overly cautious

Oh my. I hope they get to the bottom of this. I know about having to cancel travel plans – so disappointing, Health is #1 though. Take care.

Thank you, Nora. We took a ride to the coast today to visit a friend who is recovering from surgery. The weather was glorious and we picnicked overlooking the ocean.

I wonder why WP doesn’t allow to correct already posted comments and I wonder why I didn’t notice your second comment originally😁.
