This is my first submission to Linda G. Hill’s Saturday Stream of Consciousness Challenge with the theme of “Bone”.
The topic grabbed my attention, as I sustained my first broken bones ever just over three weeks ago. I still don’t know how I managed to propel straight backwards into a concrete step, but in the process I broke two ribs and punctured a lung.
Yes, broken ribs hurt. A lot!! I spent much of the first two weeks lying flat on my back on a heating pad. The lung healed quickly, the ribs take more time, but I am much better and almost back to normal.
A very difficult part of this whole experience has been that we were supposed to leave on a long-awaited trip to Spain and Portugal two days after my fall. We had to cancel the trip, but plan to re-schedule, and we did take our insurance for the entire trip.
I always try to look for the silver linings. I could have easily hit my head, I could have been abroad instead of at home, and I have a wonderful husband who comforted me and kept our household running while I was laid up.

Wow – what an awful surprise to happen. Glad you’re OK!
