Flickr has now decided to charge for posting on their site. I only use Flickr to post one photo a week, for the Macro Mondays group challenge, as I share my work in other places. I have decided to just challenge myself to shoot a weekly photo on their theme and share on my site, rather than pay the monthly fee.
The theme for this week is “Hobby”. The photo should relate to a hobby other than photography, so I chose “Gardening”. My Christmas Cactus is blooming and I shot this in the rain this morning.

ovely flower.
Good for you to go it on your own. This site already benefits a lot from the content provided for free by the many photographers who participate.

They still have free accounts. They’re just limiting them to 1,000 photos. Paid accounts are unlimited. That’s what they’ve been telling us in their emails anyway. That’s here in the USA as far as I know.

Apparently at one point I was automatically sending photos to Flickr, so I have more than 1,000 in my feed. I tried to delete, but if you’ve uploaded 1,000 you can only stay on if you go Pro.

Gorgeous photo!! Did you try reaching out to them on the forum? I thought they said that you could delete to make room for more photos.

Thanks, Nora. I was able to delete, but was still locked out. At some point I apparently was automatically uploading all photos to Flickr so even though I was able to get my Photostream to below 1000, I had still uploaded more than than the limit. I will clarify with the admins; good suggestion!
