I only participated in one challenge last week, because I was traveling. You can view my photos from Palm Beach by looking back at my posts from earlier this week.
As soon as I returned home from Palm Beach I began a two day whirlwind. I have a friend from fifty years ago (I’m giving away my age) who lives nearby. Another of our “gang” from when we were all young and new moms was visiting from Colorado. The fourth of our group, sadly, has Alzheimers and is in a memory care facility, but a visit to her was central to our plans for the two days that we all spent together.
Nancy, Carol and I started on Thursday with a visit to Filoli to see the spring flowers blooming.
Filoli is a country house surrounded by 16 acres of formal gardens in Woodside, California. It is owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and is open to the public.

Filoli has a resident peacock named Percy. He is amazing! He strutted and posed for us until we forced ourselves to move on after thirty minutes!
The next day Nancy, Carol and I drove to Marin County to visit the other Nancy at her memory care facility. She was truly delighted to see us, although she probably did not really remember much of our history as friends. It was a very special and emotional two days with dear, dear friends.

Belongs to my old friend, Nancy, from SF days. He’s actually not a poodle, but I don’t remember the breed. Cute, isn’t he!

Always, always grateful when I see or hear of long-time friends taking time to visit in a memory care center. No one knows what Nancy remembered while you were there or remembers since your visit. While you were there she clearly knew she has friends and she is loved – feelings that lingered long after you left. On behalf of pastors everywhere who visit in memory care facilities, thank-you.

Thank you for your kind words, Teressa. She truly was delighted that we were there and we were so happy that we were able spend time with her. The feelings linger for me, too. And, thank you for the wonderful work that you do!
