I wasn’t sure what I would be looking for in my archives when Frank announced the theme of Back Catalog for his Tuesday Challenge this week. As I scrolled through my folders my series on the August 2017 solar eclipse popped up. I am particularly proud of this photo because I was totally out of my element. I studied up on how to shoot a solar eclipse and ordered a special cover for my lens so that I could point it at the sun. I went to the park across from my home, set up my camera on a tripod and took photos for about three hours. This one was of the tail end of the eclipse when the sun had almost emerged from behind the moon. This photo was even picked up by an online magazine called Olyvision and published in the September 2017 issue. My lens was my Olympus 40-150mm PRO with a 1.4X teleconverter bringing the focal length to 210 mm.

That’s a fantastic shot!
