This week Nancy Merrill, in her A Photo A Week Challenge, has chosen the theme, ” Sleeping“.  When we were in Maui in 2018 a monk seal came up on our beach to rest.  I thought it was dead, but soon learned that they often come ashore to sleep, and might stay for a few days.  A local organization exists to protect the seals, and members soon arrived.  They erected ropes around him/her and posted a sign, so that onlookers would keep their distance. The seal did stay for a couple of days, and then was gone.
