This week Nancy Merrill, in her A Photo A Week Challenge, has chosen the theme, “Footwear“. One of the things that has brought me please during SIP is going back through photos from my travels. I am broadly interpreting the theme with a fun photo taken in Paris France.
Across from the Sorbonne, on rue des Ecoles, sits a statue of the 16th-century French philospher Michel de Montaigne. Students believe that rubbing his right shoe before taking an exam will bring them good luck. His shoe has been rubbed so much that it has become gold and he has been nicknamed “Shiny Shoes”!
