Before I move to my challenges for the week I want to share an exciting experience from last week. On Friday night I was invited by my friend, Mary Ann, to photograph her Epiphyllum oxypetalum, Queen of the Night, in bloom! The plant is also known as night-blooming cereus.
Each bloom on this cactus species is only open for one night; it closes the next morning, never to open again!
When Mary Ann texted me at about 8:30 p.m. that several blooms were opening Clifford and I hopped in the car and drove to Mary Ann’s house. Clifford, Mary Ann and her husband all helped with lighting.
There were three blooms that night and they were stunning. I hope you enjoy them! They also have a lovely, sweet scent.
In the film “Crazy Rich Asians,” the Singapore family hosts a viewing party for their Queen of the Night!
And now to a round-up of the challenges that I joined last week and the photos that I chose to submit-
The challenges have different themes and rules. For some, the photo must be taken the week of the challenge, for others you can dig into your archives. Some even have prizes. Many of the sites have pages on Facebook. Links are included to each challenge and the theme of the challenge is in the caption of each picture. I think that other photographers enjoy learning about new challenges. You can share links to ones that you enjoy in the comments section so that we can all check them out.

These are great entries, Susan. I love your night blooming cereus and your 52 Frames flower. I think that one actually is the most stunning because of the black background. The way you summarize all your photo challenge entries for the week is a great touch and helps to promote all of those challenges as well. Have a great week. 🙂
