Our Other-worldly Skies

This week week Hugh is hosting the Sunday Stills challenge for Terri. He chose the theme, “Orange” which was perfect timing!

You may have seen pictures posted on social media of the other-worldly skies that we here in California experienced on Tuesday of this week.  Due to the wildfires raging in our state and an unusual inversion layer in the atmosphere, it was dark all day (street lights stayed on) and there was a persistent orange glow, unlike anything that I have ever seen!  My husband and I went out on a short walk and the homes that we passed literally glowed from the inside out.  I share my photo from the day.

Theme: Orange

  1. Susan, I can’t imagine how frightening it must be for everyone caught up in the wildfires in your part of the world. Seeing an orange sky and the street lights shining in the middle of the day must have been a strange experience.
Thank you for joining me for this week’s Sunday Stills.
    Take care, and stay safe.

  2. Oh dear Susan, that can’t be good. We see you guys on the news every evening and it is truly frightening. Hoping you and yours are safe and that this will end soon. Sadly, I loved your image. Let’s hope the orange has disappeared by now!
