This week Terri has chosen the theme Ochre for the Sunday Stills Challenge. I immediately thought of the rich red of color of Ayers Rock, or Uluru, and the surrounding desert deep in the Australian outback.
This was looking down from the plane as we approached Alice Springs.
This is Uluru, a site sacred to the Aboriginal people who inhabit the area.
And this is a close-up as we stood right in front of the rock.

Beautiful photos. I have lived in Australia since 1989, Uluru is still on my bucket list.

How amazing you were there Susan. I’ve read the aboriginal people used shades of ochre as paint in their spiritual journeys.

Beautiful shots, Susan. One of our most memorable travel experiences seeing Uluru. The colors are astounding.

It is, indeed, memorable, Jane. Were you besieged by flies? I could have done without that part!

Oh yes! My favorite photos are of us in our fly net hats. 🤣 Swatting at them is called the Australian wave.👋
