Shiny Shoes

This week Nancy Merrill, in her A Photo A Week Challenge, has chosen the theme, “Feet”

One of the things that has brought me pleasure during SIP is going back through photos from my travels. This photo was made in Paris a few years ago.

Across from the Sorbonne, on rue des Ecoles, sits a statue of the 16th-century French philosopher Michel de Montaigne. Students believe that rubbing his right shoe before taking an exam will bring them good luck.  His shoe has been rubbed so much that it has become gold and he has been nicknamed “Shiny Shoes”!
