Lens-Artists #133: My Photographic Journey

I hesitated to start this challenge because I knew that it would take time, which I seem to be always short of this days. However,  I also knew it would be a nice chronicle of my photography passion, which  brings me so much enjoyment, so I’m jumping in.  Amy is our host and the theme is My Photographic Journey

I am sharing each camera that I have used on my journey and, as hard as it will be to choose,  just one photo taken with each.

My journey began all the way back in the mid-90’s when my husband and I reached  a point in our lives where we could begin to travel. I have kept each of the cameras that I have used.  I started with this Canon PowerShot SX 20, bridge camera.  I liked the 20x zoom lens and and used this camera for many years.

On our first visit to Austria we walked past the stables of the beautiful Royal Lipizzaner horses.

In 2015 we took a trip that we had long dreamed about, a safari in South Africa.  Prior to the trip I decided that I was ready for a camera with interchangeable lenses. I researched several different brands and settled on this Olympus OM-D E-M5, primarily because it was lightweight and had built-in image stabilization.   Also, at the time of that trip I started my WordPress blog, http://musinwithsusan.com, and have published a daily post on every trip that we have taken since. You can see them in the travel section on my home page, if your interested.

About three years ago I stepped up to the Olympus E-M1 Mark II.  I now have a collection of  nine different lenses and have turned a spare bedroom in our home into my studio.  I participate in a number of photo challenges each week and publish a “My Photo Week in Review” blog post each week. You can find them by going to my home page.

Like most people, I also sometimes use my iPhone X.  As we all know, “The best camera is the one you have with you”!

  1. Hi Susan, Thank you for taking time to share your photography journey and memories with us. I love the elephant image, what a trip you had. The waterdrop is fabulous. The last image touches my heart…

  2. Thank you for taking the time to join in, Susan! Lovely journey – and I am a bit partial to the Lipizzaner stallion. But the rain drop…and your last photo – are just so sweet.

  3. Loved your post Susan, and know you could have included many, many more beautiful images as I’ve seen on your blog! A perfect solution to include one with each camera. All wonderful of course. Thanks for joining us this week!
