This week Tina is the host of the Lens-Artists Challenge and the theme is From Forgettable to Favorite.
Tina asked us to share an image, or several, that may not have met our original expectations but that, through editing, we’ve turned into “a keeper”. A recent challenge that I participated in asked us to spin a wheel of fortune and combine two themes that we landed on. I came up with “Window” and “Beverage”.
The idea that I had was difficult to execute because of the harsh light outside. The first photo is the original, straight out of camera. Even after cropping and adjusting the lighting in Lightroom, I could not fix the dark petals of the orchid and highlights and shadows in the background.
It was time to see what would happen if I applied a filter from the Topaz Labs software. I love playing with these filters and settled on an Impressionistic one called “Cool Painting”. My final result is the photo below. I was very pleased with it and others seemed to like it too!

I love this edit!!
