This week Amy is the host of the Lens-Artists Challenge and her theme is Natural Light. I am so excited about this capture that I am using it in a couple of places. Last week I was photographing some small bird in my backyard and I looked over the top of my roof and spotted this magnificent hawk on the top of the cedar tree in my front yard. I had never been so close to a bird like this before! It was the start of the golden hour and I thought that the light was beautiful on his feathers and the tree branches.

Wow, Susan, that might be a top find for the contest. It is so rare to get them to pose for you so beautifully and to catch the light at the right time – super rare! 🙂

It was for my “personal contest”, Marsha. Only one other challenge chooses top photos and there are almost 3,000 submissions per week. Didn’t make the cut 😢.
