Ann-Christine is the host of this week’s Lens-Artists challenge and she has chosen the theme, “Feet and Shoes” https://lagottocattleya.wordpress.com/2021/08/14/lens-artists-photo-challenge-161-feet-and-shoes/
This is a statue of Montaigne, a very famous French author and public figure from the French Renaissance era. It’s located at rue des Ecoles, right in front of the entrance of The Sorbonne University in Paris. If you look carefully at his right foot you’ll see that his shoe is exceptionally shiny. Why? Because students believe that touching it before an exam will bring them good luck!

This an amazing sculpture. So beautiful.

I think I would have touched it too! He was and is a central figure of that era. There are some examples all over the world of this shiny part of a statue. Mostly religious ones of course. This is a beautiful photo – I have never been there to see him.
