For her Sunday Stills challenge this week Teri has chosen the theme, “Leaves and Trees”: https://secondwindleisure.com/2021/11/14/sunday-stills-leaves-have-fallen-from-the-trees
My camera club held a critique session this week where three trained judges critiqued photos that we entered. I submitted one of a grove of Aspen in the Sierra Nevada, replete in Fall colors. The critique was that there was no focal point and the suggestion was to crop or shoot much closer to concentrate on one tree and the bark on the trunk. The first is was my attempt at this suggestion and the second of the grove.
And some changing leaves from the same trip.

Your quakens are stunning, Susan! How fun to get great feedback to improve your images! We just planted three quaking aspens that will be dormant and really start growing this spring 🙂

It is fun, Terri, but what I found in watching the judges critique many images was that they often had wildly differing suggestions and disagreed with each other. I learned a lot, but in the end I think we make our own choice, guided by the input that we receive.

I love number two especially, but they are all lovely.

Thank you, Cindy. I also like #2. Interestingly, that’s the one the judge shredded because he said there was not focal point and the sky was uninteresting.
