This week Tina has challenged us to share some of our favorite images of 2021: https://travelsandtrifles.wordpress.com/2022/01/01/lens-artists-challenge-180-favorite-images-of-2021/
Many of my favorite images are memories from the wonderful trip to Alaska that my husband and I were privileged to make. We sailed for eight days on the Lindblad National Geographic Endurance and then took the train to Denali National Park where we spent several more days.
“The forest is the first cathedral. I felt that from the time I was a child. I credit my mother with that. I used to think it came from her Native-American side. Whichever it was, she instinctively connected with nature, and taught me that. “
Alice Walker

Other favorites include some from closer to home, our trips to Lake Tahoe and Palm Desert, and photos that I took in my little home studio to submit to the various challenges that I participate in weekly. I know that 2021 was a difficult year in many ways, but my passion for photography kept me focused how fortunate I am and on the beauty and good in the world around me.

These are all so beautiful. They are all so brilliant.

Hi susan, for some reason your site wouldn’t let me use my WP to comment and you weren’t in our reader. I loved your post but worry others won’t see it or be able to comment on it. In any case it’s terrific. While I loved the Alaska images and the fond memories it evoked, it was your closer to home photos that drew me in, especially the autumn leaves and the smoke image. Beautifully done! Wishing you all good things in 2022!

Hi Tina, thank you for the headās up. Iām glad you enjoyed traveling back to last year with me. I checked my settings and didnāt see anything unusual and someone else was able comment about 30 minutes before you. Oh, the mysteries of cyberspace! Iāll keep investigating.

Thank you. That is Mt. Denali. We were fortunate to see her each of the three days that we were there. Most of the time she is shrouded in clouds.

Thank you, Nora. I have to take another self- portrait this week as that is the theme for 52 Frames. Iām sure I wonāt have comparable results, but gotta try!
